Welcome to my idea!

To begin this line, this idea I have in mind to do with this blog, it should be noted why I came to think of this creation to show my opinion on talkies (films) and texts (books). As I sit here on one of days off from a job that holds no satisfaction or furthering of my ambitions, I know I must make a change that would not only help my mental health on my family's financial burden but also fill this need of some change to life that will spark another line in my path. So, after considering other retail, non-sense boring jobs and the scary idea of returning to schooling in hopes of creating possible later financial sustence and more financial burden, I thought "HELL! I'll start a blog on what I prefer to do! Read books and watch films!"

I know what you're thinking. I can't make any money for my opinion on this internet site. It won't change my financial situation or job prospects. BUT! It can provide an outlet to this irriating area of my life.

With the help of Netflix streaming to my television and my home library that is full of literature that I have yet to tackle, I hope that this way of expelling my annoyance with other areas of my life will prove successful.

I will not bore you with previous criticism of books past read or films past seen. I will start with the here and now. And right now I am in the process of reading The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty. I have been in possession (pun intended) of this book since I was in high school. If memory serves me correctly, I bought it at a yard sale for fifty cents. Since the ten years that has past from high school, I have successfully intergrated it with my other books by somehow destroying the cover partially and spilling coffee on the last hundred pages or so. This was not an uncaring act. I am like an animal when it comes to my things, I mark them each on someway and it makes me feel as though this is my love "spot" for the book. I'm not particular with e-books or kindles or ipads of that nature. Electronic items are fine in my 'book' but not as my book. Books are meant to be made of paper, fragile and sensitive. Computers are meant to be electronic. So, I will not own an electronic reading device, though I am impressed by humankind's ability to create such a thing.

Growing up with a parent who loved films I too came to love films. After taking a Film Noir class in college, I seriously thought I might have picked the wrong subject to study. The technical aspect I am not very savy with, but I know what it takes to be a great film and what it takes to be a piece of crap. Original ideas, actors who portray someone that are not like themselves in actual life, camera angles that are meaningful and not just artsy-fartsy (just as a side note, I severely dislike the word fart, and in disliking it so much it is well deserved in this justification), and background music that is better than the description of background music. I go through these ideas each time I view a film. Sometimes I manage to finish the film, other times it is painful to do so, and occasionally I cannot. Though, keep this in mind, if I am able to keep my eyes to the screen and mind from not wandering, that does not necessarily mean that I enjoy it. A traffic accident holds all attention, but it does not mean it is a good thing.

So, after some explaining of way I chose to do this and how I am at doing it, I hope I hope your attention in this online rant I have created.

Minor note, this would not be possible if I did not have a family that supports my idea of sharing my ideas and opinions with you. Thank you Nathanial, my husband, and Caspar, my son.

Now let the pigs fly!
